Calgary Ladies Golf Association
The Association was first established in 1929 and is a not-for-profit organization that relies on volunteers to fulfill its mandate of promoting Amateur Ladies and Junior Girls’ golf around Calgary. In 2012 over 1,000 ladies and girls actively participated in our events. Our events and tournaments are designed to be ‘break even’ and to that end the entry fees are established to cover the expenses incurred. As well, we aim to create benefit and profit for the clubs hosting our events.
The ladies of our Member Clubs hosting an event contribute their time and organizational skills to run our events, and the Chairs of these events actively participate in our Association by having a position on our Executive.
Our organization promotes Ladies and Junior Girls’ golf by encouraging members to participate in the following events:
C.H.A.M.P.S. (Calgary Hospitality and Match Play Sections) – our most popular event aimed at the recreational golfer. Each participating club plays 12 play dates (equal number of home and away games over a 3 year period), and the focus is on hospitality and getting to know ladies from other clubs. A season ending wind-up is also organized.
City Amateur Championships – separate 2 or 3 day competitive (gross and net) Stroke Play tournaments for the Ladies Amateur, Senior Ladies Amateur, and Junior Girls Open Amateur. The Junior Girls’ competition not only focuses on competitive play in the 18 hole event, but also on fun events to encourage participation for Juniors who are not yet playing at a competitive level.
Tournament of Champions – 18 Holes Stroke Play open to all Member Club Champions or Runner-Up only
Riley’s Best Ball – maximum field of 48 – 2 person teams (3 flights) participate in a double knock-out competition
Medalist Series – 6 events annually with a maximum of 24 participants with the lowest indexes per event

All entrants to any of the annual CALGARY LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION events must be a member, in good standing, of a CALGARY LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION member golf club and have a current Golf Canada handicap factor.
The Executive of the CALGARY LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION changes each year. The member club hosting that year's Ladies Amateur tournament provides the majority of volunteers for the roles within the Executive.
As of 2019 - there are 32 member clubs in the CALGARY LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION.
